Money Manager

Terms of service

Last updated 23 August 2026.

Plain terms for a small service. By using Money Manager you agree to these.

What this is

Money Manager is a tool for recording and understanding a household's money. It is not a bank, it does not hold or move your money, and nothing it shows you is financial, investment or tax advice. Figures it derives — balances, conversions, projections — are there to help you think, and your own bank's statement is the authority on what actually happened.

Your account

  • You need a working email address, and you have to confirm it.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Turning on two-factor authentication is strongly recommended and takes a minute.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for whom you invite into your households.
  • One person, one account. Do not share a login — invite the other person into the household instead, which is free on every plan.

Plans and payment

  • The free plan is free, with no time limit, and needs no card.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe. Prices are shown including VAT where it applies to you.
  • A household runs on the best plan any of its members holds. One subscription covers the household it is in.
  • You can cancel at any time from Stripe's billing page. Cancelling stops the next payment; you keep the paid plan until the period you have already paid for runs out.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe retries for a few days before the subscription ends. You keep your plan while it is retrying.
  • Within 14 days of a first subscription, ask and you will be refunded in full. After that, we do not refund part-used periods — but you can always cancel so you are not charged again.
  • If a price changes, existing subscriptions keep the price they were taken out at until they are changed by the subscriber.

Your data is yours

  • You own what you put in. We claim no rights over your financial records beyond what is needed to run the service for you.
  • Export is available on every plan, as CSV, without asking anybody.
  • Dropping to the free plan never hides or deletes anything you have already entered. It only turns off the features you were paying for.

Bank connections

Where you connect a bank, that happens through a regulated open banking intermediary, and you authorise it on your own bank's website. Consent is time-limited by law and you will be asked to renew it. We are not responsible for a bank being unavailable, refusing a date range, or omitting accounts from its own interface — which several of them do.

Automatic categorisation

Categories suggested automatically are suggestions. They are usually right and they are not guaranteed, and you can correct any of them — a correction teaches the household's own history, which is how it improves. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.

What you must not do

  • Break into other people's households, or try to.
  • Use the service for anything unlawful, including laundering money.
  • Attack the service, or automate against it in a way that degrades it for other people.
  • Resell access, or run it as a service for other people, without asking first.

Accounts that do these things get suspended, with an explanation.

Availability

This is a small service run carefully rather than a service with an SLA. It will occasionally be down for maintenance. Your data is backed up daily, encrypted, off the machine that runs it — but keep your own exports too if the records matter to you, as you would with anything.

Liability

As far as the law allows, the service is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including a decision you made on the basis of a figure shown here. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you have paid in the previous twelve months. None of this limits your rights as a consumer, which the law gives you regardless of what a page like this says.

Ending it

You can close your account whenever you like, which deletes your households' data. We can end an account for a serious breach of these terms, and will say why.

Changes and law

If these terms change materially, you will be emailed before the change takes effect. They are governed by Hungarian law, and nothing in them removes a consumer right you have under it or under EU law.
